| Always known and called upon, for his laser accurate readings of classic Jimmy Buffett songs, H.B.'s determination to be respected for his own written songs led him into the studio in 1998 with old friend David Williams producing, what turned out to be a two-year blood, sweat and tears project that many people (including H. B. himself), didn't think would ever be released. Lots of problems were encountered during the recording of this project - accidental erasure of three songs, flooding of the studio resulting in equipment damage, financial backing issues, lightning striking the hard drives containing most of the songs and on and on. To everyone involved, the project seem cursed. Even when completed, the first pressing of the CD was mixed poorly by his then label "Digi-Tone Records", and was recalled for not being up to industry standards. Jim Price, nominated for a Grammy award in 1999 for his mixing of a Doc Watson album, was called in for emergency surgery on the project. Jim remixed all 13 songs and greatly improved the sound. Although several major problems surfaced with the record company after the release date (no distribution or promotion), H. B.'s CD has continued to sell steadily by word-of-mouth and still enjoys airplay in nine states in America and in foreign markets including Holland, Ireland, Germany and England. H. B. Beverly & Friends "Home Sweet Home" was a true labor of love project with over 25 of the finest hand-picked musicians East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia offers and the CD will surely be considered as a collectible because of those who participated. Not only does the CD showcase his writing and arranging skills but his virtual ease with performing Rock, R&B, Country/Rock, Americana and Bluegrass styles all which are present on this CD. "Home Sweet Home" was also the #2 requested song on the internet island music station serving the entire Parrothead nation. H. B. plans to be back in the recording studio in the spring of 2006 to record his newer material written since "Home Sweet Home" was released. |

| The Story of "I'll Be Coming Home" During World War II, a young Oma Sexton wrote a song for her future husband, Carl, then stationed in Germany in the U. S. Army. She was so hopeful of their happy reunion, that she wrote the song from his point of view through a soldier in the battlefields. That was creative and imaginative enough in it's own right, but in addition she never tagged it with a time or place of origin. It simply states that if this soldier can make it back home, he's going to marry his beau and be where he wants to be for the rest of his natural life. The way it is expressed this song can and does apply to any conflict where a soldier down in a bunker in some foreign land is praying that he can just make it back home to his loved ones. It is a song of faith and hope for all who have family or friends, who are putting their lives on the line for us each day and night in Iraq and abroad. In 1990, Oma's husband Carl passed away, and she gave the song to H. B., who was then her son in law, and he re-wrote the tune and arrangement, and recorded it in the current version you will hear when you click on the links at the top left of this page. |
